Yoga

Karma Yoga

Considered a Yoga of action, Karma Yoga stresses displaying devotion to selfless work that demands devoting time, energy, and effort to accomplish any given task. The practice eliminates the need for approval, reward, or expectations and guides one to work not for ego but the greater good.

Jnana Yoga

Acquiring intellectual knowledge and practical wisdom is all about Jnana Yoga, a self-realization technique of meditative awareness. It’s a proven way to acquire knowledge and develop intuition that dissolves for the true self to emerge. Performing Jnana Yoga requires having an open mind.

Raja Yoga

Becoming aware of your mind’s habitual tendencies by removing obstacles like an overactive mind, excessive thinking, attachment to mind-body-intellect complex, and egoic concept of me is the focus of Raja Yoga. While these are normal functions of human mind, there’s a deeper part of ourselves that can be realized only by practicing this technique.

Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga is an introductory process of Yoga, and its derived from “ha” meaning sun, and “ta” meaning moon. Hatha Yoga aims to bring a prefect balance between the sun (Pingala) and the moon (Ida) in you. The aim is to take you beyond your limitations by preparing your body for higher possibilities. It teaches you that for every type of mental and emotional state, your body naturally takes certain postures. The purpose of this practice is to consciously get your body into various postures to elevate your consciousness.

Ashtanga Yoga

Ashtanga in Sanskrit means eight-limbed, and Ashtanga Yoga is an eight-limbed practice to achieve a state of Samadhi or meditative consciousness. It was founded by Sage Patanjali, and comprises of yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana, and samadhi. These eight limbs are the path to go deeper inward and discover the divine within yourself. It’s a state of perfect oneness that is beyond peace and bliss.

Iyengar Yoga

This system of Yoga was compiled by Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar 75 years ago that is based on the traditional Ashtanga Yoga founded 2,500 years ago by Sage Patanjali. This technique was founded by Iyengar who taught that Yoga is an art, science, and a philosophy that goes beyond physical form. It’s suitable for all ages and all body types, and it known for instilling focus on precision and timing. The practice of this type of Yoga integrates the mind, body, and emotions.

Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa Yoga is also called flow Yoga due to the smooth transitions of different poses that create a seamless movement using breath. The practice helps develop a balanced body and prevents repetitive motion injuries. It’s a contemporary style of Yoga that combines Ashtanga Yoga and Power yoga in several different types of movements.

Power Yoga

As the name suggests, power Yoga is a fast-paced cardiovascular practice that aims to increase heart rate, build strength, and enhance flexibility via high-impact Yoga postures. It builds muscle tone, promotes an active lifestyle, and helps you develop a strong sense of connection with your physical body.

Kundalini Yoga

The practice of this Yoga awakens you to the internal powers and the original source of energy, leading to an expansive spiritual awakening. Kundalini Yoga encompasses breathing, chanting, singing, and other movements in repetitive poses. It helps activate your Kundalini energy or Shakti that is located at the base of the spine. It’s also called the Yoga of awareness.

Hot Yoga

Hot Yoga is an intense practice performed in hot and humid conditions, like in a room setting with temperature between 80 to 105-degree Fahrenheit, to induce considerable amount of sweating. It increases the heart rate, loosens & builds muscles, and elevates your mood with a relaxation effect. The practice includes several poses that include standing and stretching that encourage several movements in a vigorous session.

Anusara Yoga

This is a modern-day Hatha Yoga which translates to “following your heart”, “flowing with grace”, and “going with the flow.” The practice encourages us to remember and celebrate life that is considered the greatest gift to humankind. This Yoga emphasizes the universal principles of alignment that forms the basis for all the physical asanas. It helps you align your body, mind, and heart in a way to boost circulation and foster overall well-being.

Bhakti Yoga

Bhakti Yoga is a leading yogic path to enlightenment, and it means devotion or love. This practice opens the path to unite the bhakta or the yogic practitioner with the divine. It’s also the proven way to experience and enhance the unity of body, mind, and spirit.

Jeeva Mukti Yoga

This method of Yoga is an exclusive type of Yoga that combines the physical, ethical, and spiritual practice with a vigorously-combined Yoga session. It’s an intense practice with vinyasa-based physical style that includes the five central aspects like shastra, bhakti, ahimsā, nāda, and dhyana.

Rocket Yoga

Rocket Yoga is an excellent alternative to Ashtanga Yoga that is comparatively a difficult type of Yoga.
